Show Holy Cross Kimball hospital won't oust clinics The Holy Cross hospital at Kimball Junction, planned for completion by the fall of 1987, will not replace Holy Cross clinics now existing in Summit County, said a planner with the firm. Mel Pine, director of planning for Holy Cross in Salt Lake, told the Record the firm will select an architect for the hospital this spring and will have plans drawn up in six to nine months. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 1986. I However, Pine indicated that studies of other resort areas show a major hospital doesn't monopolize medical service. The firm looked at both Vail and Sun Valley, he said, and found the surrounding areas included both individual doctors and small clinics, some affiliated with the hospital and some not. "You need those for referral to the hospital," he said. In a meeting two weeks ago with the Summit County Commission, Holy Cross officials listed a number of services they are considering for the new hospital. Sister Susanne Bren-nan Bren-nan said services might include: sports medicine, short-stay surgery, home health care for the elderly, birthing service, specialized physician physi-cian service, substance abuse programs and cosmetic surgery. Holy Cross has studied the needs of Summit County with the help of a county-wide citizen advisory committee. commit-tee. Pine said the committee would continue to provide citizen input. |
