Willett and his dogs win in N. Dakota W illett keeps on winning. Doug Willett, a resident of Highland Estates, won his third dogsled race in four weeks with a victory in Bottineau, North Dakota, last weekend. Doug's wife, Moone, told the Record Monday that the race consisted of two 46-mile heats. Contestants were allowed to use as many dogs as they liked. She said Doug usually races with 12 to 14. Moone, who is also active in dogsled racing, said Doug may enter a short-distance race in Jackson Hole this weekend. His schedule then calls for him to return home to prepare for the Uinta Summit Classic March 16-17. This race traditionally has been run between Kamas and Evan-ston, Evan-ston, Wyoming. However, this year the route has been changed. Moone said it will be run on a 36-mile course between Heber and the mile 14 marker on the Mirror Lake Highway. She said spectators are welcome for that race. |
