Show Wasatch Citizens' Series to end this weekend As the last race of the Wasatch Citizens Series unfolds at Powder Mountain Saturday morning and more than one entrant will be putting extra kick behind his glide to take one last shot at the season titles. In several ago categories it will be a race to the finish, said race coordinator Dave Hanscom. Christoph Schork and Jeff Stuart, for example, are running neck and neck with 114 points each for the first five races of the six-race series. The Powder Mountain event will determine deter-mine which of them takes the blue ribbon in the 19-34-year-old division. Another close race will be won or lost in the corresponding women's division. Roxanne Toly has come up from behind to give Madonna Harris a run for her money. If Toly wins, Harris may have to share the top slot in the division. . Even Ken McCarthy, who has been leading the men's expert division, is feeling the pressure. He must place in Saturday's race to maintain his lead against Sverre Planke. The Powder Mountain nordic race track is on a plateau which offers a spectacular view of the Wasatch range, Hanscom said. If the weather is clear, the race conditions will be excellent, but if it is stormy they could be horrendous because the track is so exposed, he said. The race begins at 11 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $5. |
