Show HILL DECLARES STORY TO BE WITHOUT FOUNDATION Seattle, Wash.. Aug. 20. Samuel Hill, son-in-law of James J. Hill, declared de-clared last night that he had no knowledge of lefjal proceedings begun by Mrs. James J. 1 1 111 In the courts of New York to secure the custody of his eldest daughter. Miss Mary Hill. He also paid that the dispatch which gave the purpose of the proceeding aB a desire on the part of Mrs. James J. Hill to educate Miss Mary Hill in the Catholic church, was clearly an error, as he was most friendly with the representatives rep-resentatives of that faith. When Mr. Hill was Interviewed he was at dinner nt his home, and one of his guests was the Rev. Kmll Kautcn, Cathol.c chaplain of Providence hospital. hos-pital. Pather Kautcn also stated that the dispatch was in error so far as the attitude of Mr. Hill toward the Catholic Catho-lic church was Implied. "I do not know what the dispatch means," s.nld Mr. Hill.
