Show fOREST FIRES SPREADING IN OREGON SITUATION IS XTREIELV SERIOUS War Department Orders All Available Troops to Assist in Fighting Flames-Train of Pack Mules En Route With Supplies From Fort Russell, Wyoming' Washington, Aug. 20 Forest fires are spreading in Oregon and today the situation In the Walla Walla and Crater national forests in that state 5s extremely serious. Tho forest service ser-vice received telegrams from its district dis-trict officials making urgent appeal lor additional troops. It was said that five more companies were needed to cope with the conditions of the uafcr forest. The war department promised to comply with the request fo f3r as troops were available. Fifty additional soldiers were ordered to the Wallawa and more will be sent If possible. General Wood, chief of -staff of the army, has ordered a train of about "a pack mules from Fort Russell.
