Show SURPRISING FALL OF ' SNOW , NEARLY SIXTEEN INCHES SINCE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY. . , i Engine and Train Employed In Clearing Clear-ing the Union Depot Platform ' , Storm Continues " Weather Observer Van der Graatt of the Joint freight depot says that up until noon about. 16 inches of snow had fallen on the level. It began raining Sunday night about ?:30; an hour later this turned to sleet and hall and at midnight the snow began be-gan to fall and the storm has continued contin-ued since without Interruption. Mr. Van der Graaff says the present pres-ent snowfall insures plenty of moisture mois-ture for the spring and summer months and that even dry farming will be a success this year. A large gang of snow shovelers nave been employed all day In keeping depot de-pot environments passable for traffic traf-fic and an engine and ten flat cars have been utilized since early morning morn-ing in hauling the snow to the hlgn, grade on the "Y" track north on Twenty-third street. Six switch engines anJ crews have been moving through the yards all day in an effort at making up freight trains, and while the work has been weary and tedious, the "boys" have managed to keep all trains going out on nearly schedule time. |
