Show SACRAMENTO RIVER IS RAPIDLY FALLING Sacramento, Feb. 8. The Sacramento Sacramen-to river from its source to this city is falling. It registers 23 feet here today. There is a slight rise between Sacramento and the Island district, but it is not sufficient to cause any apprehension. The storm that swept the extreme northern part of the valley val-ley is broken and the places that suffered suf-fered are already recovering. An immense body of water is rushing rush-ing through tho overflow between this city and Davisvllle. The current is so strong in places that the Southern Pacific has deemed it, advisable to discontinue dis-continue the operations of trains on the Davisvllle route, although there are no washouts. A work train with a large force of men and twenty thousand thou-sand sacks of sand was sent over the line this morning to strengthen the embankments. |
