Show ; SOUTjUIK Imports From Latin America Show Growth as Exports Fall Off WASHINGTON, May 29. Both Brazil Bra-zil and Argentina continued to in-jcrcaso in-jcrcaso their exports to tho United states in April while a decrease in : imports from this country widened their already favorable trade balance, according to figures announced today by the department of commerce. Imports from Brazil of $2S,S00.000 were $6,000,000 in excess of March imports im-ports whllo exports to that country wero $10,000,000 against $12,500,000 for tho preceding month. Argentina shipped $21,500,000 worth of goods to 1 this country, nn increase of$2.400,000 over March against a 'drop in imports I to $14,800,000 from $17,000,000. Imports from Chile and Uruguay showed a decline in April, the former amounting to $7,900,000 against $11.-1 $11.-1 500.000 in March, and the latter totalling total-ling $6,000,000, a decrease of about $1,000,000. Exports to those countries showed a little variation from March, in both cases being approximately $4,-000,000 $4,-000,000 less than imports. |
