Show BR1GHAM SOCIETY j BRIGHAM, May 29. Tho Civic Improvement Im-provement club met Thursday afternoon after-noon In the assembly room of the Box Elder commercial ,club. A report of tho vaudevlllo in connection with tho moving picture show" Thursday, May 13, was given. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to all taking part in tho performance. Mrs. Nels Jensen reported on the merchants lunch and a vote of thanks was given the active committees In charge of tho affair. Shirley C. Horsley gave a 1 splendid talk on the history of painting and correct pictures for tho home. Mr. Horsley emphasized the, fact that pictures pic-tures reflect the owner's personality, and great care should bo taken In their selection and arrangement. "Each picture," Mr. Horsley said, "should be carefully studied before choosing a frame, which should never detract attention from tho picture, but should bring out the predominating shade of tho picture by being lighter than the darkest shade and darker man 1110 iigmesi. I'crsonai pictures containing no real art and family portraits por-traits should bo found only In the prl-vato prl-vato bedroom. In hanging pictures wires should not be seen or should hang perpendicular rather than at an angle, and an oven line should bo maintained either at tho top or the bottom of the pictures around the room. A few good prints from famous paintings aro tho only pictures to be tolcratod outside of original paintings, and all other calendar type of prints should bo discarded. Pictures should be few and of a character to Inspiro rather than to fill up wall spaoo." Call reported 'on tne plans for tho Juno tea to be held In tho commercjal club rooms, Juno 9, and the various committees were named. Every member was asked to furnl3h a cake for this occasion. Howell of Ogden. j Mrs. Falck is a member of tho cc-equtivc cc-equtivc board for the National Servico j Star Legion, and acted as chairman upon this occasion, with Mrs, It. T. I Willoy acting as temporary secretary. In a short address. Mrs. F.ilelc eavn the object of tho organization, which Is helpfulness, service and a perpetuation perpetua-tion of the memory of those who took part in the great world war. The mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and grandmothers of -those In the service during tho war are eligiblo to membership. mem-bership. The constitution and by-laws governing tho national organization wero road and approved, as also w?sro the constitution and by-laws of tho Utah division. It was also suggested that the organization act with tho. American Legion in furnishing furnish-ing flowers for decorating the graves of our dead heroes. White ir-Is I and red tulips were used In decorating the living rooms and white lilacs and chestnut blossoms adorned tho reception recep-tion hall. Jardinieres of white lilacs adorned tho reception hall, while apple ap-ple blossoms and lilies of the valley were used to decorato the living room and library. After a pleasant afternoon after-noon spent in needlework and social chat, the guests retired to the dining room, where a dainty two-courso luncheon was served. The luncheon tablo had as a centerpiece a largo black, and whito bowl filled with pink, yellow and white shasta daisies and babybreath. Hand-painted place cards were an added attraction to the tauio and served as favors for tho guests. Tho hostesses were assisted In serving by Mrs, R. Kaiser.
