His bride Is a native of New England, but lias grown up in Ogdcn from early girlhood girl-hood to womanhood, making a wide circle of friends, who love and esteem es-teem her. for her cunny disposition and absolute loyalty, both In the social so-cial world and In her business connections. con-nections. She has been a member of the editorial .staff of the Ogden ' Standard for the past seven years and In that capacity has earned tho ' warm appreciation of her co-workers on the paper and a host of Its pa-V pa-V Irons as well. A large num- jM ber of guests filled the church, to IjS witness the nuptial ceremony and IH to participate in the reception which lUl followed. To ihe strains of the "Wedding 'March," ' vhe brlclc, attractive in a simply du- signed gown of cream white crepe do meteor, with veil and orange blossoms, blos-soms, was led to the altar by Mayor Frank Frauds. -John Coates, Ust man, accompanied tho Reverend Matthews and tho couple met at the altar, as the congregation arose. Tho Roverond John W. Hyslop conducted the marriage ceremony and the Reverend John E. Carver, the betrothal. Miss Ulllan Thatcher was maid of honor and the brldec-maids brldec-maids wore Miss Murle Sanford and Miss Grace Matthews, alsters of the I brido and groom. Tho uaijers wero ' Gcorgo Llkert. Pi Miss Dora Smith, violinist, accom- panled by Miss Ivlno Shields, played the wedding march and appropriate f selections throughout the serving of tho wedding breakfast, which was ! , given in tho dining room of tho j church parlors. v The dining room, ! beautifully decorated and lighted In J : lavender and white effect, carried I , out the general color scheme of tho II ' entire church decoration. Tho tables II wero set to form a hollow square in M i the center of which, stood a beautl- M ful fountain, with a largo frosted globe which shed a warm radiance :1 over all. Ferns and lilacs adorned M the body of the fountain. The cell- flj ing above the tablo was a canopy Ml of flowers and fern with cleverly ar- Kinged lavender lights, The breakfast was prepared and H served in a most perfect mannor by Hfv iIlBS Gerta Woodruff, assisted by ' r. Spraguo and tho six fair young girls In wh.Uo who had al3o assisted the young men as ushers at tha wedding ceremonies. Hi Covers wero laid for: Reverend H 1 and Mrs. Matthews, Miss Lillian Thatcher,, maid of honor, Mayor and Mrs. Francis and daughter Helen, Reverend and Mrs. John W. Hyslop; Reverend and Mrs. John. E. Carver, Mrs. Emma XV. Sapford, mother of the bride, Miss Edith Matthews and Mrs. Margaret' Morgan, sisters of the groom, Godfrey Morgan, his nephew, Mrs. Frank C. Kimball, and son Rulph, Miss Marie - Sanford and Miss Graco Matthews, sisters of the bride and groom who attended as bridesmaids and John Coates, best man. Mrs. XV. G. Dalrymple and Mrs. A. C. Emerson arranged the artistic decoration of tho church and a number num-ber of the young ladies of tho Sun-.day Sun-.day school brought auanlties of ferns and flowers in their autos. The entire church co-oporatod in making tho wedding of their pastor and "his fiancee a happy event. Many beautiful and useful gifts from the friends nnd co-workors of tho bride and groom were showered upon them, during the last few days beforo' tho weeding. After their return from their honeymoon hon-eymoon they will go directly to their cottage in Ogden Canyon, where they will, be nt home to their friends after Juno 15. Mrs, XV. T. Mars ontortaincd a number num-ber of friends In honor of her son, Sergeant Theron Mars, last Tuesday evening, tho day being his birthday anniversary. The young fritmds w?io gathered for the evening onjoyoa themselves In the evening hours by an automobile ride and attending "River's "Riv-er's End" at the Orpheum theater. Mrs. Mars served a delicious dinner to tho guests present. A basket of La France roses wero used for decorations. deco-rations. Tho following were present: Lieutenant R. Everly, commandant o the Ogden R. O. T. C; Major Frank Pingrco, Captain Dan Rowland, Captain Cap-tain Weston Bird, Lieutenant Hlllard Wherry, Sergeant Paul Garner and Sergeant Theron Mars. i Tho colored Ladles' auxiliary,- T. I?, P. O. E., will present a musical comedy com-edy at the Little Theater, Juno 3 and 1. Much fun and entertainment has been "promised to thoso who attend. Miss Clara Huggins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.- L. N. Huggins, assisted by her siator, Mrs. Emma Kenny, entertained en-tertained Tuesday afternoon at a trousseau tea between tho hours or i and S. Fragrant lilacs arranged in wicker baskets were placed through out the home, and a color schemelo lavender was carried out on tho tea table. Those who assisted in recoiv ing tho guests wero Mrs, Hattlo Car tor, Mrs, Frances Bador and Mrs. EiA . ma Kenpy. Tea was sorvod dur:ng tho afternoon by tho Misses Martha Scudder, Dorothy Prout, Helen P.rout and Vinetlo Parry. Over two hundred hun-dred guests called during tho arter-noon. arter-noon. Miss Huggins is to become tho brido of JCenny A. Rook on Juno 2. - t Another of the dolightful card parties par-ties given by the members of tho Service Star Legion was held Tuesday Tues-day afternoon in tho T, O. O. F. hall. The entire afternoon was spont in playing cards and the members of thf Legion proved themselves to be charming hostesses. |
