Show WE CITY GUARDS HEIST FLOOD THISSPW Ogden City Is making preparation to prevent damago from floods in iho north part of the city by reason of the spring rise.- A largo force of workmen are engaged strengthening the leveo, removing the gravel bar and otherwise other-wise fortifying against high water. "In addition to strengthening tho levee le-vee by increasing Its height from two to four feet near the old Shupe placo," said C. H. Martin street supervisor, "we are widening tho channel by removing re-moving drift and other obstacles. The gravol bar immediately beneath the bridge also is being removed. Tho dead timber lying along the bank west of tho bridge opposite Sylvan park are being transferred to the levee north of the bridge." According to Superintendent Martin's Mar-tin's record, tho flood crest last year attained a height of seven feet and six inches. The highest point was registered regis-tered during the morning of May 16 and that night the waters dropped approximately ap-proximately two feet. |
