Ho has been made a knight commander of the Order of the British Empire and henceforth will add tho prefix "Sir" to his name. Sir Connop has mado his headquarters headquar-ters in this city, whence he has controlled con-trolled all tho British and somo of the entente allied tonnage employed In tho transportation of supplies to the war zone. This has brought him in closo contact with largo business intorosts of America. At the boginning of tho war ho went to France with tho Grenadier Gren-adier Guards, was woundod at Neuvo Chapollc and incapacitated forfurthor military service, retiring with tho rank of captain.
