Hin-slmw. cliairman of the Prohibition national na-tional committee, who recently wrote to the governor of every state urging special sessions of the legislatures to ratify the prohibition amendment to tho federal constitution, yesterday mado public tho following replies: Julius C. Gunlher, governor of Colorado Colo-rado wrote: "The next regular session of the Colorado legislature will convene in less than one year. I have not the slightest doubt but that it will ratify tho amendment. "I shall so strongly recommend." Ho added that if it were necpssary to call a special session ho would include the ratification in the call. Emmett D. Boyle, governor of Nevada Ne-vada wroto: "I am confident that when the representatives rep-resentatives are elected in November of this year, in a campaign in which the issue will bo fairly prcsontod, we will be able to rnllfv tho amendmment with the next legislature." Prank O. Lowden, governor of Illinois Illi-nois wrote: "Your lettor will have my best con- , sideration." Keith Neville, of Nebraska, wrote: I "I shall in my message to the logis-j logis-j lature in 1919 present the matter for action." I Governor W. P. Hobby of Texas, wrote that the calling of a special session ses-sion was now under consideration and that It called "this question could be considered without further authority." Governor WIthycombe of Oregon, wrote: "I have no hesitancy in saying that the state of Oregon will undoubtedly undoubt-edly support prohibition at tho time this matter is considered at the next meeting of the legislature one year from tho present date." |
