Show ROAD BOND ISSUE AT FROVO DEFEATED PROVO. April 18. The rpport of tho road bond election brought from Cedar Fort yesterday afternoon changed the previous figures from 2 for nnd 20 against to 2 for and 18 against, which makes the total for the county 1795 for and 1800 against, a majority against of 5 votes. Clinton's vote may be changed it is included in the foregoing estimate as 4 for and 10 against the bonds but It is bolieved it will be against the bond issue: hut an accurate result cannot can-not be obr-iPui, until Monday, when the returns will be canvassed by the board of county commissioners. None of the returns are official, as the judges of election did not as they do in general elections bring an official offi-cial report of a separate sheet for tho clerk; but all tho reports aro in the sealed pouches, which cannot be opened until Monday. The reports that have come are from judges of election and others who telephoned them in from the'sevoral districts, and in some cases there are differences of one or two votes as reported by different differ-ent individuals. The probabilities, however, are strong that the bond issue is-sue is defeated. There are said to be some cases of doubtful votes on account ac-count of the way the ballots were marked which are claimed by both sides, and which, if they exist" as reported, re-ported, will have to be decided by the commissioners in tho canvass. |
