Show DIRECT III IS GH 10 ALIENS II U Editor Ogden Standard: I enclose herewith instructions which are being sent to chiefs of police throughout the country, and it is the desire of the United States attorney that you give publicity to this notice in order that all aliens may have an opportunity to turn in their arms in accordance with directions contained in the notice. Yours very truly, (Signed) LEON BONE, Special Agent ' "Chief of Police: Under the proclamation procla-mation of the President, dated April G, 1917, it is unlawful for alien enemies ene-mies to have in their possession the following articles: "Any firearm, weapon, or implement imple-ment of war, or component part thereof, there-of, ammunition, maxim or other silencer, sil-encer, bomb, or explosive, or material used in the manufacture of explosives; explos-ives; device, or any form of cipher code, or any paper, document, or book written or printed in cipher or in which there may be invisible writing. "Your co-operation in enforcing this proclamation is earnestly desired; and you are requested, If possible, to post notices, or otherwise notify all alien enemies within your locality, to bring to police headquarters and surrender any and all articles which it is unlawful un-lawful to have in their possession. A detailed receipt should be given for all articles so surrendered, and at the close of the war such articles should be returned. J "Any alien enemy who fails to surrender sur-render such articles within twenty- four hours after public notice given by you. will be subject to summary arrest if such articles shall be found in his possession, and the articles will be seized and forfeited to the use of the United States.
