Show I MARRIAGE WILL NOT SAVE THEM. Too late' No slacker can save himself him-self from conscription, if conscription comes, by marrying. Today the war department announced that all men married since the outbreak of the war will be treated on the same basis as unmarried men, insofar as their military mili-tary obligations are concerned. Good! The proper course has been taken by the government. Wherever young men arc deliberately shirking their part of the burden of upholding the dignity of this country, they should be made the targets of scorn and dragged to the front. This is no time for a display of cowardice, and those who slink away, expecting to escape an obligation, will be among tho first to be marked for compulsory service. Of course, only a very small percentage per-centage of young men who are marrying mar-rying have any thought of avoiding their patriotic duty. |
