Show I !bees are again victorious over : SEALS; ROY BLISS ON MOUND M , SALT LAICS, April 19. It remained M for another young native son pitcher M ' 'to heat tho San Francisco club ycster- H I day afternoon this time, 6 to 3. M , I , Roy Bliss, a San Francisco boy, by 1 1 'the -way, turned tho stunt in the sec-M sec-M t ' ond game of the series. True, he M needed some assistance to complete M J this man's-size job, but he did it and H ; that's what couiits. M The young San Franciscan, -who i hails from the same family which Hl turned out the famous Jack Bliss and H later "Toots" Bliss, relieved Jean Du- M hue after the latter had asked to be fl taken out at the close of the first M frame, and pitched a masterly article H of baseball until his wildnoss and in- fl experience got him into tho hole in the ninth. Then Rube Evans finished B his day's work for him by forcing Mal-B Mal-B sel vto fly out and Schaller and Downs to fam M Kid Was Nervous. M Bliss was just a bit nervous at times B but he pitched a better game than the m scoro would lead ono to believe. His M hooks and benders seemed to baffle 1 the Seal cloutors almost as much as J did those of Adolph Schinkle on the H clay before. He was slightly wild and B over-anxious, and this alone got him B into what trouble came his way. H Big Olaf Erickson opposed the Bees H. and had lots on tho ball. Earl Sheoley's B homer with a man on in the fifth and H ( four healthy blows in the next frame, B ' however, proved his undoing. O'Doul fl ' a southpaw from the San Francisco B town lots, finished the game. The B ' latter seemed to have everything ex- H cept confidence and control, but B ' showed us aii assortment of slants that B 1 1 had our batters guessing. B , The Bees were again first to scoro H i Rath got on with a single in the first H I inning and stole second. Sheeley's H walk put him on third and Tommy H I Quinlan's first safe binglc of the sea- H son sent him home. M Another for Sheeley. H With Rath again on as a result of another hit, iu tho fifth, Earl Sheeley H crashed into one for a homer over the H left field fence. Gislason started Salt Lake's half of H .the sixth with a one-base safety and H stole second. Hannah fanned. Bliss H i was safe on Corhan's bad heave to H first and Gislason romped on to third. HI Gislason scored on Tobin's safe one to H I left' Rath also tore off a single. Tom H Hughes tried to send Bliss in on the H blow, but a perfect throw from Fitz-H Fitz-H gerald nai.ed him at the plate, Tobln H taking third and Raih second on the H throw-in. Sheeley drew a pass and H ' I the bases were loaded. Ryan sailed H , a hard one to Corhan, on which the H , latter slipped and fell, Tobln and Rath HI scoring. H J , San Francisco counted once in the H J , fifth, Corhan got on through a base H j ' i on balls. McKce singled to right, fl where Tommy Quinlan had too much 1 arm. Tommy tried to hold Corhan i ' at third, but he heaved it into the j fence and the runner scored. Singles i by Koerner and Corhan and two walks in a row gave the Seals a second mark- I cr in the seventh. Schaller and Downs I I tore off bingles in the eighth Tobin t made a great running catch of Koer- ner's drive, but was unable to prevent I Schaller from going to third atter the I catch. Corhan grounded to Rath, but i Sheeley dropped the throw and Schal- f ler counted. The score: , SAN FRANCISCO I AB R H PO A E !
