Show RANDOM HEFEREWCES Policemen's Dnncc The fourth annual an-nual ball of the Ogden Police Benefit association will be held tonight at tho Royal dancing academy and the Maids' and Matrons' club hall. It Is anticipated antici-pated that both halls will be taxed to their capacity, as each yearly ball given giv-en by the local "bluecoats" has proved a rarely pleasurablo event. Dancing will begin at 9 o'clock. H. W. Dubach departed today for San Francisco, over the Southern Pacific Pa-cific railroad. Thief Seen The homo of C. E. Al-don, Al-don, 2571 Lincoln avenue, was entered last night by a thief, who forced a rear window. He was seen, however, and, being aware of the fact, left the house hurriedly without obtaining anything any-thing of value. The occurrence was reported to the police. Ladles' Band Much enthusiasm was manifest at the meeting of tho Ogden Ladies' band, now in course of formation under the direction of Prof. E. W. Nichols, held Saturday evening at the Weber academy. Approximately Approximate-ly thirty young women and girls definitely defi-nitely expressed themselves as ready and anxious to become members and the question of instrumentation and instruments in-struments was thoroughly discussed. Woman Released Mrs. n. L. Connelly, Con-nelly, who was arrested in Provo last week and brought to Ogden on a charge of defrauding several local merchants through the medium of worthless checks, has been released from tho city jail on a small bond. It is understood that she made the face value of the checks good. Her husband hus-band is now in jail In Salt Lake City,' awaiting action against him on similar simi-lar charges. Resigns Frank W. Austin, chief clerk at the Denver & Rio Grande railroad rail-road freight station, has resigned his position in favor of a position with the Amalgamated Sugar company. Ho had been in the employ of the railroad for seventeen years and was considered consid-ered a highly efficient employe. Logan to Celebrate Rev. Carver went to Logan this afternoon and will speak tonight at a general patriotic meeting at 6 o'clock and deliver the opening sermon of the Presbyterian church annual meeting for tho state of Utah at S o'clock. nn |
