Show , oo I COAL REDUCED $1 1 A TON. I With the reduction in tho price of I coal by the mine owners, tho local coal I dealers cut their figures from $6.75 to I 5.75 and $5.60 a ton in Ogden. This was forecast last 'week, when I tho Ogden dealers said they would re- I duce the price as soon as officially I informed that the mines had cut the I price. I The high prices of last winter were I brought about under most peculiar I conditions. The independent coal pro- I I ducers raised the price G5 cents a ton, I -while the Utah Fuel company held to I the old figures, but failed to supply B Ogden with more than a very small B j per cent of the tonnage demanded. In B ' Salt Lake the Utah Fuel entered the I -winter with 20,000 tons In reserve and I kept that city fairly well supplied I j -with coal at low prices. The result I ' -was Ogden felt the discrimination and I j hadto pay the higher prices, until the I independent mine owners last -week B decided to go back to the former B J schedule of prices. Immediately the H Ogden coal dealers sent out word they H would sell at the old figures, and this H morning they made good by putting H into effect a reduction of $1 a ton. |
