Show GOEBEIE F08 SOUTH HOT OF UK I DISTRICT B Property ovraers of South Washing- Wt ton avenue, represented by a commit-K commit-K tee of four, today informed Mayor Ab-m Ab-m bot R. Heywood and his two col-M col-M leagues that they had decided to have ft concrete paving instead of asphalt in m their district, from Twenty-eighth street to the south city limits and on I to Riverdale. m Tho committeemen were George J. 1 Kelly, D. F. Steele, Joseph E. Wright K and II. E. Taylor. ? Petitions are now out for concrete paving, the cost of which will probably prob-ably be about half of tho city engi- neer's estimate for asphalt, which was i $112,660. The selection of concrete will meet i with the approval of tho county commissioners, com-missioners, who have been building f- concrete roads, IS feet wide, for about ; 11,000 per mile. The Washington avenue ave-nue pavement will be 5S feet wide, or about three times the amount and cost of the county's roads. Thus will be effected an enormous saving. : The city commission telephoned to- '. day to the county commission, asking I whether the latter had any preference as to kind of paving. The city solons wore assured that the county board 1 would abide by the choice of the property owners in agreement with the city commission. ' The work will now be done without delay this summer. |
