Show uu BH1 ClilS In a telephone message to the Standard Stand-ard yesterday evening from a representative repre-sentative of the Box Elder High school, a statement was made disagreeing disa-greeing with the renon from the We ber academy that the Box Elder high school had forfeited the final northern division debate to the Ogden church school. He stated that Weber academy acad-emy refused to agree to a proposition proposi-tion that each school use two debating debat-ing teams and that therefore the B. E. H. S. people refused to debate. The statement was referred to T. Earl Pardoe, district chairman of inter-high school debates, who characterized charac-terized it as having been made by some one who was not conversant with the rules. Last year the Weber academy team went to Brigham city, he said, and was forced to take the negative side of the question, an unethical un-ethical proceeding, as the visiting team is 'supposed to debate the affirmative affirm-ative side. This year the same plan was to be followed out in Ogden and the Box Elder debaters or their superiors super-iors of the faculty failed to show up. Weber academy will continue to consider con-sider the debate scheduled for yesterday yester-day evening as a victory for its team and in all probability this situation will be upheld as correct |
