Show AMERICAN FIRE Gen. Bell Notifies Carranza That Sentries Will Reply-to Reply-to Snipers. EL PASO, Tex., April 19. Snlpera who fired at an American sentry stationed sta-tioned at the viaduct, in the suburbs of this city, woro fired upon in return by a squad of United States soldiers late today. One Mexican, was seen to fall after a volley had been fired across the border. The American sentry was patrolling patrol-ling his beat when two shots were sent from behind entrenchments on the Mexican side, according to the official report received at military quarters. The sentry returned the fire when one of tho Mexican bullets hit a short distance from him. He called the members of his squad and they fired more than 20 shots across the line. Consul Bravo reported the affair to Brigadier General George Bell, Jr., General Bell informed the consul con-sul that the American sentry had been fired upon and had obeyed orders or-ders in returning the fire. "I have ordered the outposts to shoot to kill vhen fired upon," General Gen-eral Bell said later. "I will court-martial court-martial a man who fires across the border' first and I will alsp court-martial court-martial one who fails to return the fire when he is fired upon."
