Show F. W. FRANCIS IS CALLED BY DEATH Sail Lake. April 22. Frederick W. Francis, the last surviving me'mbor of of the firm of Callaway, Hoock & Francis, passed away at St Mark's hospital last night at the age of 51 years. Mr Francis waB taken to the hopital Tuesday morning and operated upon for a disorder of the stomach. He gradually lost strength and death came shortly before midnight. With the death of Mr. Francis an interesting in-teresting and successful business career ca-reer Is brought to a close. Born In Marshall, Mich., he went through tho public schools there and twenty-five years ago went to Denver. There ho engaged in the pottery and glassware business, and twenty-five years ago iu March he married Miss Cora L. Vincent. In that same year Mr. Francis and his bride came to Salt Lake. At that time ho was associated In the same business with the firm of Hoock & Clawson. A few months later he purchased pur-chased the Interest of Mr. Clawson and, with the late W. F. Callaway and F. H. Hoock, established the firm of Callaway, Hoock & Francis. With the death of Mr. Callaway and Mr. Hoock within a year of each other, oth-er, about nine years ago, Mr. FranciB was made secretary, treasurer and general manager of tho store, which haa grown into one of the most important im-portant china, glassware and silver houses in the wet. Mr. Francis was an active member of theCommercIal and tho Rotary clubs, but was not affiliated with any fraternal organizations. For fifteen years Mr. Francis had been an older on the board of sessions of the First Presbyterian church. He had taken an active interest in the work of the church and was regarded as one of its most Influential members In Utah. He is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters- Earl Vincent Francis, Frank A , Frederick C. and Margaret E. Francis. He is also al-so survived by a sister, Mrs. M Green-man.
