Butler H anuTWC, Ileikes, of the United States B geological survey, made an examina- H tion of the Promontory district, west H 'of Ogden, and their report has been Hj published by the survey as bulletin H 640-A. In a department bulletin the 1 following comment appears: H ThiB district- Is in Box Elder coun- H ty, near' the south end of the Prom- Hj I ontory mountains, a range that forms H a long pprmontory extending south- H ' ward from the north shore of Great H Salt lake. The camp of the Lake H yiew Mining Co., owners of the best producing claims of "the district, is on a beach of Lake Bonneville, the predecessor pre-decessor of the present Great Salt lake. Tho net weight of ore shipped from this mine to August 1, 1915, was 1,961,900 pounds, representing a gross value of $35,636.75. Since August last, tho district has had its greatest development and ore shipments now are being made at the rate of nearly a carload a day. The ore zone as today defined may not bo very much enlarged and still tho district's dis-trict's future bo most promising. Tho Lake Viow company has paid its way from tho grass roots down and continues con-tinues to give evidence of rich ores yet to be uncovered. |
