Show uo NEW POLICE CHIEF IS NOV IN CHARGE Salt Lake, Jan. 20. Chief of Police C. AY. Shores has decided at the very inception of his career to spend a large part of his time outside the doors of his private office. With this end in view he has retained, temporarily tempo-rarily at least, A. J. Mullinger, special spe-cial agent for the Denver & Rio Grande for years under Mr. Shores, as his confidential secretary. Chief Shores assumed the duties of his office at 11 o'clock yesterday morning, shortly after the city commissioners com-missioners had met and approved his bond. He spent considerable time in consultation with B. F. Grant, the retiring re-tiring chief, whom he has asked to assist him in getting acquainted with the routine of the office and the men of the force, duties that the former chief says he is glad to perform. "I expect to do a great deal of work outside of my private office," said Chief Shores yesterday. "Mr. Mullinger Mul-linger will remain with me, for a time at least, as my confidential secretary. sec-retary. I am anticipating no changes in the immediate future." |
