Show IKON WILLING TO MEET TURNER IN PRIVATE Wrestling fans who have been watching George Cotsonarus, the Greek grappler who is to meet Jack Hnrbortson in a bout at tho Orphoum theatro next Monday night, in his workouts at tho central firo station with Peto Vlsser and Dodan Singh, are of the opinion that Harbertson will have to look well to his laurels if he wins the match. Cotsonarus is about the huskiest specimen of flesh, bone and musclo that tho local wrestler wres-tler has yet signed up with and as Harbertson is "some" man himself at catch weights, the fans can well expect ex-pect plenty of excitement while their bout is on. Dodan Singh, by the way, is a Hindoo Hin-doo weighing about 150 pounds. He has been working at the fire station several mouths and is now out with a challenge to any two men in this locality In his class, agreoing to defeat de-feat both In a half hour. Should his challenge be accepted, tho double bout will be staged at the Orpheum Monday night as a curtain raiser for the main bout At the present time, Mohler and Parry, two of the cleverest clever-est local amateurs, are being negotiated negotiat-ed with to make an attempt to throw the Hindoo. Fans desiring to see Cotsonarus and Singh work out can have the privilege between the hours of 3 and 4 p. m. any day this week. The referee for the main event has not been decided upon as yet, but In all probability Pete Vlsser will be accorded the position. In his local experience, ViBser ha3 shown naught 'of guile and he is generally regarded as fair a man as could bo found. Recent publication of an article, purporting to be an interview from Joe Tumor, in the Salt Lake Herald Republican, has caused Harbertson considerable anger. In answer to it the local man said Turner was "peeved" "peev-ed" because he had been defeated by Jack In less time than by any other wrestler. Harbertson also said that ho was willing to meet Turner at the middleweight limit, in private with no chance of remuneration, or for a side bet He Is unwilling, however, he said, to stage a bout with Turner In public, feeling that Turner would be thrown so quickly that the fans would not get their money's worth. His offer to wrestle Turner without remuneration or for a side bet, the middleweight said this morning, was mailed to the Washingtonlan more than a week ago. |
