The main purpose of i the outing is to secure material for a story of the canyon to bo used later in Mr Spangler'6 magazine, which Is published in Salt Lake City. AUTO TRIP. Mr and Mrs. C. C Berlnger and daughter, Jennie, have returned from ! a two weeks' automobile tour of northern Utah and southern Idaho. RETURN HOME. Miss Ada Mack, accompanied by Mrs. Francis Pitt of Brigham City, has returned from a tour of California. Califor-nia. They visited both expositions. VISITED FRIENDS. The Misses Tola Pingree and Ge-neta Ge-neta Lee have returned from Brigham City where they passed several weeks visiting with friends. MARTHA SOCIETY. Mrs. GuBtav L. Miss McGovern will visit In Ogden a few weeks. Mrs. ' Spencer says she drove her auto all the way and had but one delay which ' was at Idaho Falls, where a part of the gearing had to be replaced. i OGDEN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC. An exceptionally pretty event of tho past week was held Friday evening even-ing on the lawn of the Aland home on North Washington avenue when a number of young people wero delightfully de-lightfully entertained by the Misses Pearl Wood and Emily Aland. Japanese Jap-anese lanterns and vari-colored electric elec-tric lights wero used in decorating the lawn and on tho porch where delicious deli-cious punch was served, a bower of dahlias had been prettily arranged. Dancing, games and musical selections selec-tions were features of the evening's entertainment and about 11:30 o'clock the hostess served a dainty repast. BACK FROM COAST. Mr and Mrs. Charles D. Ford have returned from a two months' visit in California They made the trip to the coast in an automobile over the Overland Trail, motored to virtually every point of interest in California and returned over the Lincoln Highway. Miss Norma Welsc of Davenport, la., is visiting with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs William Glasmann. Miss Welse is returning from a three months' visit in California where she visited the fairs and attended tho National Na-tional Musical conventions CARNIVAL IS PLANNED. A number of young people of the Ninth ward, called the "Hummers." have arranged some big events for Thursday and Friday evenings of next week and on Wednesday evening a preliminary in the form a circus parade par-ade will be staged on the downtown streets. The entertainment Thursday and Friday evenings will be held in the ward amusement hall and will consist of a vaudeville show, circus, a visitor from tho other world, grabbag, dance and refreshments.
