Show Germany's Best Amateur Oarsman Dies at War Berlin, Sept. i. Erich Vcttor, who was Germany's best known amateur oarsman, has died of wounds received in Gallcia. He was a substitute officer offic-er In a reservo regiment and had been awarded the Iron Cross, first and second sec-ond class Vetter bolonged to the Mayence Rowing Association, and since 1912 had won forty-two victor-ies victor-ies for its colors Ho was a member of the four and the eight oared crews that won the championship of Germany Ger-many and of Europe, and was in the victorious eight-oared crew that rowed at Henley.
