Show PROF, E. W. NICHOLS RETURNS FROM . THE COAST Professor E. W. Nichols, leader of the Weber academy and State Industrial In-dustrial school bands, and children have returned from a five weeks' tour of California. He reports the trip as having been the greatest one of his life, the family visiting both expositions exposi-tions and also stopping in a number of the California music centers. At Berkeley, the Ogden man attended the convention of the National Dancing Danc-ing Masters association and, with his children, forming the Nichols Family Fam-ily orchestra, filled three concert engagements en-gagements at Richmond and one each in San Francisco and San Jose. The San Jose Mercury-Herald of August 23, had the following to say, in part: "The music was out of the ordinary, ordi-nary, the feature being the orchestral trio, Professor Nichols playing the clarinet, Dorothy Nichols the 'cello and Loring Nichols the cornet, the number being "Angels . Serenade" (Braga). In "Confidence," another number, Loring Nichols changed cornet cor-net for violin, displaying equal aptitude apti-tude for each instrument Both numbers num-bers were well rendered, surprisingly so when one considers that Dorothy is but twelve and Loring ten years of age " Mrs Nichols will remain on the coast six months. oo |
