French artillery Is violently bombarding bom-barding the Gorman trenches and this is taken to presage a great offensive movement by the allies on the west front. France and Great Britain have been rather slow in beginning a vigorous attack on the Germans, but the delay may have been due to an insufficient supply of ammunition. The French may have been avoiding the mistako mado by Russia, of starling an offon slvo without ample munitions to maintain a prolonged effort. With shells arriving by the ship load from the United States and the English factories turning out larger quantities quanti-ties of explosives, the time should be at hand when the allies can go forward. |
