Show KRAG CURES IRE KID By THE RIFLE CLU8 Thirty Krag carbine?, ordered by the Ogden Rifle and Revolver club, have been received and distributed among the members. The rifles are all In excellent condition and look as though thej had Just been turned out of the factory. These are the carbines formerly used by the United States cavalry troops during the Spanish-American w.ir They have all been thoroughly cleaned repaired and ivblued by the government and shoot generally a3 well as new guns. They are short, have bolt action and a magazine holding hold-ing five cartridges The muzzle velocity of the bulle', with the ammunition furnished by tho government, is 19G0 feet seconds, while with the high power ammunition ammuni-tion manufactured by the U. M C. company and using the spitzer bullet, it is 2700 feet seconds The weight of the gun Is fthout 8 pounds, is 36 calibre uses forty gr.nns of powder, 120 grain bullet and has a recoil of forty pounds. The United States government has approximately three hundred thousand of tin so rifles in storage at the vati ous arsenals and by a recent special acl of congreBS, they can be secured through the rifle clubs affiliated with tii, National Rifle Association of A merlca. The price of the srun to the members of the rifle club is $4 .25 which includes in-cludes the packing, appendages, transportation, trans-portation, etc. Th1 Krag carbine Is an excellent gun for target practice while for big game bunting it cannot be excelled Many persons believe that to join the Rifle club and purchase one of these guns they are becoming affiliated with the government in a military way. but such Is not the case. The gun, once purchased, becomes the permanent property of the purchaser. The Ogden Rifle and Revolver association asso-ciation has entered the National league and will compete for the indoor in-door team championship of the United Uni-ted States. The first match is scheduled to take place on Saturday next at 7:30 p. m on the Armory range A number of Ogden's gun cracks are practicing almost every evening at the National Guard range at the Armory Ar-mory and hope to make a good showing show-ing in the national match.
