Show HAS THE END OF THE WORLD ARRIVED? The battle of Armageddon is now on. according to the belief of the Seventh-day Adventists, and the end of the world is fast approaching. In a letter to The Standard, this paper is invited to publish the following: Briefly stated, these are the events which will take place jubt before and lunng the grea battle of Armageddon, Armaged-don, which- is the last, final conflict to be waged on this earth: "Rutsia will come out of the north part' and wiU proceed against Tur key, who will be driven from both Burope and Asm Minor to Palestine. "In the valley of " Jeboshunhat. Magcddo. or Armageddon, the followers follow-ers of Mohammed will make their tst stand in their wai. of the Crescent r.gainst the Tross It will be a struggle strug-gle cf the nations for the territory of the Turk, the last and greatest battle that they will ever fight, a battle bat-tle that will seal their eternal doom." "The Turks will be driven out of Europe, and the final prohecy contained con-tained in the Word of God will be Culfllled; for when the Ottoman is torced to occupy Jerusalem as liis capital, instead of Constantinople, that ranve will precede the end of this wcrld. "These statements conform to what the Seventh-day Advent rsts have preached for sixty years.. The events of the last few weeks have brought home to mankind almost with a shrck that the predictions, so long ignored, appear to have a substantial basis in the bible. "Since August 11, 1840. Turkey, the sick man of Europe, has been .cept In existence as a nation by the ,ow-( ,ow-( rs of westi rr. Europe, in their jealous efforts to prevent Russia from carrying carry-ing out the polley outlined by ret or The Great, of seising and controlling the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles What is the end to be" Th' Scriptures Scrip-tures are not silent upon this BUl 1 I Speaking of Turkey, 'The king of the north,' the last two verses of the eleventh elev-enth chapter of Daniel declare: "'But tidings out of the east and out cf the north shall trouble him therefore, he shall go forth with grefcl fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. And he shall plant the j tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain: yet he shall come to his end ana none shall help him ' "Verse 44 describes the series of i massacres by Turkey which have iroused the horror and indignation 1 c f the civilised world, and which were caused by Turkey's fear of the Per-! sians on the east and the Russians ! on the north. More than any Stner nation in Europe. Turkey has been I distinguished for wanton destruction! of human life" The Seventh-day Adventists are no1 1 the only interpreters of the bible who ere predicting the end of the world j at this time, nnd et no one should be alarmed, because the biblical forecasts fore-casts are open to a very wide range Of interpretation, even though It be conceded that they contain a prophecy of the crack of doom. So far this world of ours has been operated on a very orderly plan, cx cept as to the affairs of man which occasionally are most disorderly Long after Emperor William I, Csar Nicholas, King George V, King Al-i bert r.nd President Poincare nav- been claimed by the grave, and long after this fearful conflict has ceased to destroy human lives and properly. Mother Earth will continue to move in its orbit in the system of our sun, and our sun in turn will move along its pathway around a greater central! body. nn |
