Show MOSS 1 CANALS IS BECOME A SERIOUS PRODI EM I . The Plain City Irrigation company held its annual meeting last Monday night. The officers made their re ports. A tax for 1915 was voted, and a new hoard or directors elected. Following Fol-lowing are the members of the new board John Maw. F. J. Palmer, L. R. Jeukins and Deloert Sharp. The meeting also tackled the moss problem from a new angle. In times gone by this has proved to be a difficult and costly problem. The uvjss grows in the canal, obstructing the flow of water. By the time mid-summer arrives and water is scarce, the canal is so befouled with moss and other vegetation that it is with grat difficulty that a stream can be forced through and in any case the loss to the water users is very great As yet n means by which the ditch can be kept free from moss, has been found, although many have been tried Now the irrigation company is willing to enter into a contract with any responsible re-sponsible party to have this work done A tile drain about COO feet long Is being constructed from the county road which runs from Plain City to the Hot Springs to a nearby slough-The slough-The drain is designed to carry the water away from the county road and the adjacent farm lands. The ex pense is borne jointly b the county and the laud owners. |
