Show BIG FIGURES FOR IRON The shipments of iron ore from the mines in the United States in 1916 are estimated by Ernest F. Burch-ard, Burch-ard, of the United States Geological Survey, Department of the Interior, eto: have approximated 75,50,0 00 gross tons, compared with 55,493,-100 55,493,-100 tons in 1915, an increase of 34 per cent. This ore sold for approximately approx-imately $178,835,000, an increase of about 77,650,000 compared with the value of the 1915 output. Ore in stock at the mines is estimated at approximately 10,486,000 gross tons, compared with 13.74S.732 tons in 1915, a decrease of nearly 24 per cent. |
