Show Jaycees lose, Jones Motor wins in tough National LL race Jaycees suffered their first loss of the season but remained on top of the standings in the Cedar City National Little League. The loss came at the hands of Arctic Circle. But just as important Jones Motor posted their first victory of the year by defeating Arctic Circle 15-13. Following are the league standings through Monday, June 23d: Jaycees 9 l Lions 5 3 Elks 6 4 Ron's 4 4 Arctic Circle 2 7 Jones Motor 1 8 Here's a rundown of this week's games: Elks 15, Jones Motor 7: Lane Holmes with eight strikeouts was the winning pitcher. Ron Bowen of Jones suffered the loss. Ron's Sporting Goods 7, Arctic. Circle l: Kevin Hunter was the winning pitcher giving up only four hits. Charged with the loss was Chris Stevenson. Jaycees 9, Lions 4: Brice Gubler picked up the win and Craig Edwards bleted a home run for the winning Jaycees. Suffering the loss was Cary Larson of Lions. Jones Motor 15, Arctic Circle 13: Shane Baggs was the winning win-ning pitcher in this eventful game. Clay Myers suffered the loss. Jones Motor pushed in nine runs on six hits in the first inning of play and held on for the victory. vic-tory. Jaycees 2, Elks 0: In a real pitchers duel, only three hits in the entire game. Bruce Gubler was the winner with help from Craig Edwards. Lane Holmes and Craig Edwards were on the mound in the losing effort. Jaycees picked up their first run in the third when Chuck Embley walked and scored on a double by Rusty Beatty. The other Jaycees run was scored by Kerry Edwards Ed-wards who walked and scored on a passed ball. Lions 10, Ron's Sporting Goods 6: Cary Larson and Bryan Albrecht combined for the victory vic-tory and between them recorded 14 strikeouts.
