BRAVES ... .2-5 PAROWAN - In the Parowan Little League the Bank of Iron County Mets continue to lead the standings, but not without a scare. Tuesday night they had to go extra innings to defeat the Parowan Construction Braves 5-4. 5-4. The score was deadlocked at 4-4 4-4 after the regulation six innings as Tim Beaumont of the Braves and Scott Thornton of the Mets were having a pitching duel. In the bottom of the seventh, Chad Robinson doubled and then scored on a bad throw to give the Mets the win. The next night the Mets whipped the Lions Club Reds 11-5 as Mike Thornton struck out 14 Reds; he also homered to aid his own cause. Joe Walunas was the losing pitcher. The Reds lost again the next night as Mortensen Mor-tensen Electric Cubs beat them 20-2. David Warren struck out 14 in going the distance for the Cubs. Doug Hermansen was the losing pitcher. Shane Bess (Cubs) continued his great hitting as he belted out a homer, triple, and two doubles. Saturday morning the Braves were in their second close game of the week, this time they came out on top 5-4 over the Cubs. The game was tied 2-2 going into the sixth inning. In' the top of the sixth, the Cubs pushed across 2 runs to lead 4-2. Then the Braves really had some excitement as Mike Robiason hit a one-out, I |
