Show i i will be sold early in 1976 and that construction on the two major facilities will get underway by the close of school next spring. Residents of Iron County overwhelmingly approved a proposed $620,000 bond issue for the Iron County School District in a special election held county-wide county-wide Tuesday. In a relatively light vote for the county, a total of 2259 voted in favor of the proposed issue as opposed to 823 against. Percentage Per-centage wise it broke down to 73.2 percent favoring with 26.8 opposing the issue. Primarily the issue would permit the School District to bond for the specified amount to create an addition to the South Elementary and to join with Cedar City Corporation in the construction of an indoor-outdoor swimming pool complex. The swimming pool issue drew the widest amount of concern from residents as was evidenced by the voting. In Cedar City, where the pool is scheduled to be constructed, the voting was 1730 for and 401 against. In the remainder of the county the balloting on the bond issue was much closer with 529 voting in favor and 422 against. Only in four voting districts of the county was the voting against the proposed bonding. Those districts were Beryl, where it was 11 against and 9 for. In Parowan all three of the voting districts were opposed to the bond issue. Combined the voting in Parowan was 315 against and 233 favoring the issue. Plans on the swimming pool have already progressed and it is expected that the development of educational specifications for the South Elementary will be developed in the near future.
