Cedar City to celebrate 124th anniversary Nov. 11th Cedar City's 124th Birthday Anniversary An-niversary will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 11 with a program to be presented by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mayor L. Kerry Jones, has issued a proclamation urging residents of the community to observe the celebration by flying the flag of the United States of America. "On this day, in appreciation of the stalwart pioneers who settled our community com-munity and gave Cedar City it's early beginnings, I urge you to fly the flag," the Mayor said. The Anniversary program will be held in the Rock Church located at Center and 100 East at 2 p.m. Jeff Marchant will be the featured speaker at the services. Evelyn Petersen will give a vocal rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner and an organ and piano duet, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" will be played by Vyonne Chamberlain and Jackie Robinson. Other musical selections will include a vocal duet, "This is the Place, Dear Utah,1' by Larry and Sarah Jane Chat-terley Chat-terley and a Medley of Old Tunes by the Country Fiddle Group from Cedar High School. The program is a joint effort of the Iron Mission, Aunt Margaret and Coal Creek Camps of the DUP. |
