Steve Marshall, President of Southern Utah Pharmaceutical Association, today announced that a nationally known expert or. pharmaceuticals will present a community program at the Cedar City Public Library, March 22, at 4 p.m. The topic of his discussion will be "The Unknown Soldier" a discussion of such topics as vitamin supplements (their use and misuse), nutrition and health foods (facts and misconceptions), miscon-ceptions), generic prescribing, differences in drug products, drug costs and anti-substitution laws. Guest lecturer Frank Robles has a long list of credentials. He is one of a select group of official spokesmen for the Pharmaceutical Phar-maceutical Manufacturers Association (which consists of pharmaceutical firms producing 95 percent of the drugs in this country). Being a diabetic he has also taken an active interest in therapy for diabetic he has also taken an active interest in therapy for diabetics and holds special camps each summer in Salt Lake City, for diabetic youth. Recently he was elected as the president of the Utah Diabetes Association. Shown in' (his picture are the more than 500 youths from the Southern area of the Utah Parks Council, Explorers who participated Saturday in the annual Indoor Olympics. Youths from as far north as Price and Orem were in attendance to participate. They are being addressed here by Walt Brooks, longtime coach and noted sport sman of St. George, A portion of those participating par-ticipating are not identifiable in the balcony section. The youths participated on a team and individual basis in such activities as: one on one basketball, volleyball, weight lifting, wrestling, swimming and diving, chess, ping pong, public speaking and general knowledge. ; . i. David Felix of the Explorers Ex-plorers presented Pat Rippe of the Southern Utah State College with an award for his contribution con-tribution to the success of the Explorer Indoor Olympics this past week. Trophies and ribbons were presented to participants in all phases of the competition at the conclusion of the day-long event. SUSC physical education department and volunteer students from the college assisted in running the various activities. |
