Show Desist order issued by Attorney General against local gas dealer Attorney General Vernon B. Romney announced Monday that as a result of several inquiries and complaints, a cease and desist order has been issued by he Trade Commission of Utah gaiast Doug Knell of Doug Knell Cuper Shell in Cedar City for using unfair methods of competition. com-petition. The cease and desist order was based on information obtained through an investigation conducted con-ducted by assistant attorney general William T. Evans, alleging that Mr. Knell was engaged in conduct which had the effect of fixing prices of gasoline in the Cedar City area eliminating competition in the local gas retailing business. No hearing has been requested to challenge the cease and desist order which was served on February 10. This is the second cease and desist order since the first of the year that has been issued against southern Utah petroleum retailers. Mr. Romney encourages anyone with other evidence to contact his office "because price fixing is particularly damaging now during gasoline shortages and inflation." |
