Show Two scholarships will be awarded at Fair Two full tuition scholarships and trips to Oklahoma City for four outstanding young scientists are among the prizes and awards on hand for Southern Utah Regional Science and Engineering Fair w inners March 25. The annual science fair features winning science projects from high school and junior high students competing at Southern Utah State College in the War Memorial Fieldhouse "We're very pleased once again to offer two winning seniors with full-tuition scholarships to SUSC," Joe Comp, SUSC associate professor of chemistry and fair director, said. Comp said an expected 300 participants from southern and central Utah would enter competition com-petition this year with four winners chosen to attend the National Science Fair May 12 17 in Oklahoma City. Ten major prizes will be offered of-fered by the armed forces, national companies and societies. An additional 12 trophies for first, second and third place winners in physical and biological sciences in both junior and senior high division will be awarded. "Donations from businesses and interested persons throughout the area account for manv of the awards given," Comp noted. Interested persons are welcome to visit the fair from 18 p.m. and to attend a banquet honoring fair participants that evening at 6 p m. The banquet will be a no-host affair. "The fair is a good experience for interested students to work independently and to meet other students interested in the sciences." Dr. Comp said |
