Rasmussen Anna Olevia Rasmussen, 94, of Parowan and Cedar City, died March 15 in the Valley View Medical Center of natural causes. Anna was born in Parowan on Dec. 14, 1880 to Christen and Metta Mortensen Rasmussen. She attended the Parowan Public Schools and the Parowan Stake Academy which was held in the basement of the old Rock Church. She clerked in the Parowan Coop Co-op and the Parowan Equitable Stores for many years. She also served as the Parowan City Recorder. Anna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in all the Ward auxilaries. She was a member of the ward choir from girlhood until the time that she moved to Cedar City in 1900. She was also Stake Relief Society Secretary from 1929-1945. She was a member of the Elizabeth Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Both her parents were converts to the LDS Church in Denmark and original pioneers to Parowan helping to colonize Iron County. Anna was the last of nine children and is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 18, in the Parowan LDS Second Ward Chapel w ith Bishop Ernest Ahlborn conducting. Burial was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Southern Utah Mortuaries. |
