Show Cedar Craftsman wins state honors PAROWAN - Deward Bentley, a former Parowan resident, now living in Cedar City, was honored at a Governors Appreciation Dinner held recently in the Hotel Utah. He was one of six master craftsmen selected in Utah for their outstanding contributions to their respective crafts which n n 1 & 1 ,. 1 . A I i ( i . VA Civ -Jil t ' , .J 1 . ranged from carpentry, cheese making to welding, machining, auto mechanics, steel layouts and vocational instruction. Mr. Bentley qualified for the award with his excellence as a carpenter, foreman and superintendant. He has had more than 40 years experience in his field and has gained reputation for his very high quality workmanship. work-manship. Some of the structures Mr. Bentley has helped build in this area are the Parowan Elementary School, North Elementary in Cedar, Valley View Medical Center, Shakespeare Theatre, numerous other SUSC buildings including the Fine Arts, Southern Utah Clinic, several buildings at Dixie College and the new Iron County Courthouse. Bentley has worked for Blackburn Black-burn and Gower construction Company for the last nine years. His award was presented to him by Jack Alder, president of .Utah Associated General contractors, con-tractors, a former employer of his. Mr. Bentley was accompanied to the dinner by the following members. His wife Maxine, Mr. and Mrs. Berdell Bentley, Kerns; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bentley and two of their sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gillins, Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lamoreaux of Lyman, Wyoming and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Bentley of Ogden. The award given Bentley w as a beautiful gold plaque inscribed w ith the State Seal and words of appreciation from the State of Utah. STATE AWARD.
