Show New wall coverings: brick and hardwood Many new homes are sporting maintenance-free wall coverings in the form of brick and hardwood paneling. And the warm, natural look of these surfaces is ideal for almost every room in the house. Called life-time walls, there is an almost endless variety of finishes available. Even oak, usually thought of as rugged, rustic and informal, can be used to create an elegance often associated as-sociated with rosewood. An interesting interest-ing effect that gives variety to different rooms is that of changing the width of the oak panels and varying their placement. An added bonus of using oak is that it practically thrives on abuse. It is extremely ex-tremely strong and resists knocks by chairs or other hard knocks. And, you can end your painting woes forever with other hardwoods, too. Walnut, maple, cherry or birch require re-quire nothing more than a semiannual semi-annual bath using mild soap with a damp (not wet) cloth, afterwards drying dry-ing with a cloth. |
