Show Moorty to Read Paper at Utah Academy Tomorrow He was recently accepted as an abstracter for "Abstracts "Ab-stracts of English Studies," an international juournal of scholarly abstracts. His ' reviews of California author Frank Norris's works will soon be published in issues of "American Literary Realism," published by the University of Texas, and in "Western American Literature," a journal published by Utah STate University and the Western Literature Association. Moorty's works have also been published in several other American and Indian publications. Southern Utah State College professor of English S.S.Moorty will read a paper on Puritan poet Edward Taylor at the fall meeting of the Utah Academy of Science, Arts and Letters. The meeting will be held Friday at the University of Utah. Moorty will read his paper, "Secular Elements in Edward Taylor's Poetry," for an academy session on general ' American, European and international literature. In it he explains that even though Taylor's work contains Calvinistic thought and metaphysical traits, it also contains secular and sensual elements as well. The assistant professor of English has read four of his. scholarly papers at Utah Academy meetings since he joined the SUSC faculty in 1975. He has also read two papers at meetings of the Western Literature Association, the most recent one at WLA meetings held in Albuqerque, Oct. 4-6. Moorty received his PHD in English from the University of UTah, 'MA in English from the University of Delhi, India, and BA in-business in-business with a minor in English from Osmania University, Hyderabad, South India. |
