The deal involved approximately $46,630,000 payable by Febr. 1, 1930 entirely in stock of the purchasing company. Directors of the U.S. Steel held an option on the properties of the Utfth and California Company for several months and recently prolonged it several days to permit arrangement of final details. The Ironton plant had been operating successfully for the past five years with a blast furnace and a number of by-products coke ovens. It is the only one if its kind west of the Rocky Mountains producing pig . iron. The plat site of 800 acres is situated between Provo and Springville on the state highway. Buildings and yards at this time, utilized about 200 acres of the tract, the reaminder being held in reserve.
