Show Overson donates SUSC Scholarships Ill OVERSOW 1 I lH ' f i VM"""i '1 I Agriculture leader awards have been donated to three Southern Utah State College freshmen by Robert J. Overson, owner of the Overson Farm Center, Cedar City. "Each year Mr. Overson donates the equivalent of two full-tuition scholarships to SUSC students interested in agriculture as a profession," Darrell H. Matthews, chairman of the SUSC Division of Agriculture, said. One of the $420 scholarships scholar-ships has been awarded to David Lee, son of Dr. and Mrs. Wallace G. Lee, Panguitch. Lee, a 1979 graduate of Panguitch High School, is interested in a career in veterinary medicine. Two boys from Iron County, Wayne Urie, Cedar Citv and Bill Moss, Parowan, will share the other scholarship. Urie, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy P. Urie, graduated from Cedar High School in 1979. He is also interested in becoming a veterinarian and is enrolled in the pre-vet program at SUSC. Moss won a vocational day scholarship in soil judging at Scholarship donor Robert J. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Moss and is a graduate of Parowan High School. "Agriculture is vitally . important to us today," Overson said. "I'm, in terested in the growth of agricultural programs in southern Utah and at the college and donate the scholarships to encourage exceptional young people to pursue careers in the agricultural programs offered of-fered at SUSC." Matthews said that the agriculture leader awards are presented on the basis of each student's high school achievements and for their potential as agriculture majors. "We are very appreciative of Mr. Overson's continued support of the SUSC agriculture program, and we are pleased that he is interested in the growth of this vital field," SUSC President Orville D. Car-nahan Car-nahan said. |
