Schumaker is the daughter of Charles R. and Frances D. Schumaker, Fruit Heights, Utah, and is a 1975 graduate of Davis High School. She was sponsored by the SUSC Rodeo Club. The theme for the queen's pageant and for SUSC's homecoming celebration this year is "Six Days in Autumn." Homecoming festivities began Monday and will end Saturday with a parade at 9 a.m. down Cedar's Main Street; a football game against Western New Mexico at 1 p.m.; and the annual alumni banquet' at 6:30 p.m. A formal homecoming dance later that evening will top off the week-long celebration. Regina Peterson, a freshman fresh-man from Cedar City, fiddled fid-dled her way Monday evening to become the 1979-80 1979-80 homecoming queen at Southern Utah State College. She and her court will reign over SUSC homecoming activities throughout the week. The new queen was also named Miss Talent in the pageant, playing "Millionaire's Hoedown" for the talent portion of the contest, accompanied by her sister Leslie. She was sponsored in the queen's pageant by Sigma Gamma Chi. Peterson is the daughter of Dale and Glenna Peterson, Cedar City, and is a 1979 graduate of Cedar High School. She is majoring in nursing and pediatrics at SUSC. 1 The new queen was crowned by Janet Goodrich, Othello, Washington, last year's homecoming queen. Michele Ashman, daughter of Nolan and Yvonne Ashman, St. George, was named first attendant. The SUSC cheerleader is a sophomore majoring in business administration with a minor in marketing. She is a 1977 graduate of Dixie High School. Her contest sponsor was the SUSC junior class. Jody Schumaker, Miss Personality Diann Christianson, daughter of Jack and' Murl Christianson, Orem, was named second attendant by the five contest judges. She was also named Miss Congeniality by the 17 other pageant hopefuls. Christianson is a junior at SUSC majoring in theater arts with a minor in English. The 19G9 graduate of Orem High School was sponsored in the pageant by Lambda Delta Sigma. Jody Schumaker, another |
