Show SUSC Art, Drama and Music Depts. festival, "The Works 76" arrange I A spring fenllvul, flcslnucd to uhc the outdoor fri'hhiu'HS of the Southern Utah ColU-go campus us a springboard for Inspiration and involvement In the fine art, is being planned for the Memorial Day weekend, The May 28-31 event m being cooperatively sponsored by SUSC art, drama and music departments, The event, the first of its kind In southern Uuih, is entitled: "The Works '76, a concurrence of the Arts," "The festival is being designed to involve persons involved in the fine arts from throughout the state," Steve Kohl, event director, said, "and we are planning to involve the student, teacher, artist and community as well." "The Works '76" is also being planned to attract spring tourists visiting southern Utah. All events will be open to the public at no cost. The four-day festival will include in-clude art shows, musical presentations, a panel discussion, movies, guest speakers, art-music-drama workshops and outdoor arts and crafts sales. Rohl noted that artists are encouraged to demonstrate their techniques at the outdoor fair which will be held on the SUSC quadrangle. These demonstrations, demon-strations, along with wandering musical and mime groups, will add an element of spontaneity to the artisan fair atmosphere, In the interest of maintaining high standurds in the sales, works will be juried prior to the festival, Artists Interested in selling their wares are asked to submit slides of their works to "The Works 76" at SUSC, An entree fee will be charged participating par-ticipating artists, "The weekend Itinerary is a full one, so our visitors may pick and choose any number of things they might be interested in for a very enjoyable, and educational time," Rohl, a senior drama major from Las Vegas, said. "We plan to provide a common ground for exchange between artists," Rohl said, "so that each of the three areas-art, drama and music- will act as agents of inspiration and involvement for the others," ( Rohl noted that representatives represen-tatives of "The Works '76" will visit gallarics, guilds and northern nor-thern Utah schools in February to further explain the spring festival.
