Show Red Cross blood drawing Darryl Schramm, County Red Cross Chapter Chairman, said that the October blood drawing fell far short of Iron County patient needs and that extra efforts will be made to reach our requirements in next weeks drawings on Febr. 3 and 4. Only 154 pints were given on October 7 and 8, 52 pints at the Elks Lodge and 92 at the College. Betty Neff, Blood Program Chairperson, is receiving recruitment assistance from Joan Mortenson and Tom Helton for Cedar City and Steve Harmon for Southern Utah State College. Also giving assistance is Mrs. Terry Benedict, Director Donor Resources Development, In-termountain In-termountain Red Cross Blood Center, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Benedict said that: "Right now there is a particularly par-ticularly serious need for blood all over the State - in all hospitals. After any holiday period many people schedule surgeries that they must undergo. un-dergo. In addition to this, the daily use of blood because of accidents or unplanned surgeries or treatments goes on. During this period, blood . resources are used almost as fast as they are procured. We must keep our blood procurement in step with our community's need. Therefore, we especially urge all communities state-wide to participate in the worthwhile act of donating blood to help our niehgbors." Church organizations are giving assistance in recruitment and their support in the past has always resulted in successful blood drives, Schramm said. Mrs. Neff will also appreciate assistance in typing and canteen work. Volunteers are asked to call her at 586-3058. Ernie's Arctic Circle will again give a milk shake to each blood donor. The Cedar City drawing will be at the Elk's Lodge on Tuesday, Febr. 3, from 2 to 7 p.m., with the first hour again reserved for donors from the Coleman Company. The College drawing will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the Large Ballroom. V |
